On January 16 of the current year in the building of the State Assets Management Agency a meeting was held with the participation of the management of UzSAMA and Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uzbekistan Tilo Klinner.
The purpose of the meeting was to exchange views on the future program of privatization of state assets and discuss further cooperation, including familiarization of representatives of German business with the privatization program in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the management of UzSAMA provided information about the main functions of the Agency, adopted laws and relevant regulatory documents on reforming this sphere, privatization program and cooperation relations with Germany.
For reference: The UzSAMA's cooperation with Germany goes back many years, and in 2009 the first cooperation agreement was signed between the competent body of Uzbekistan on state property management and the Federal Ministry of Finance of Germany. In recent years, the Law on Joint Stock Companies and Protection of Shareholders' Rights, the Law on State Property Management, as well as the Code of Corporate Governance have been jointly developed.
At the same time, as it was reported earlier, in October 2023, Andreas Kerst, Director of the Department of the German Ministry of Finance visited Uzbekistan, and practical seminars were organized for employees of UzSAMA.
It was also reported that the German company DMT is evaluating the mineral reserves of Dehkanabad potassium plant according to JORC standards, and recently completed the process of purchase of the enterprise located in the Technopark of Tashkent city by Knauf.
Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Uzbekistan Tilo Klinner mentioned that the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) is ready to continue providing technical assistance, and that the main purpose of today's meeting is to convey the privatization program to representatives of German business in view of the fact that on January 18 Ambassador is departing to Germany for 3 weeks to participate in the annual meeting of the Eastern Committee of German Economy.
Tilo Klinner also noted that at the annual meeting of the Eastern Committee Germany intends to involve representatives of the business sector in the privatization process in Uzbekistan and that they will make presentations on the assets put up for sale, including enterprises in the field of transport, logistics, potassium and mineral fertilizers, MobiUz and other enterprises.
