On 6 June this year, within the framework of ‘Uzbekistan-Turkey Business Forum’ in Ankara, Republic of Turkey, a panel session on ‘Privatization - a new stage of economic reforms and opportunities for business’ was held.

During the session, Akmalkhon Ortikov, Director of UzSAMA, took part with the presentation and informed Turkish companies and representatives of the business sector about the achieved results in the sphere of privatization in Uzbekistan, promising plans for the future, including detailed information about the assets of the state and state-owned enterprises, which are planned to be put up for public sale within the framework of the new privatization programm, as well as about the procedures of participation in the sales process.

It was stressed that the Laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘On Management of State Property’ and ‘On Privatisation of State Property’ have been adopted and the improvement of this legislative framework has created a number of opportunities and conveniences for foreign and local investors.

At the same time, during the presentation, the conditions created for foreign investors in our country were explained and business representatives were invited to actively participate in the privatization processes in Uzbekistan. In addition, investment teasers on large state assets to be privatised were distributed, and Turkish textile entrepreneurs were given information about facilities with an area of 300 to 90,000 square metres with all relevant infrastructure where they can relocate and transfer their production facilities.

At the end of the event, a number of questions asked by the participants and media representatives were answered in detail.
