A meeting was held with the participation of representatives of UzSAMA and the International Monetary Fund

On 30 April this year, in the State Assets Management Agency was held a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The event reviewed the results achieved in improving the regulatory and legal framework in the field of state asset management and privatisation, as well as discussed the work done and further plans for the reform and privatisation of enterprises with state participation, corporate governance system of state-owned enterprises, financial reporting.

Director of UzSAMA Akmalkhon Ortikov familiarised the representatives of the delegation headed by the head of the International Monetary Fund mission in Uzbekistan Yasser Abdih with the main directions of UzSAMA's activity. In particular, the essence of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 19 April 2024 ‘On additional measures to reduce state participation in the economy’ (privatisation programme for 2024) was explained. The adoption of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 14 February 2024 ‘On privatisation of state property’ and the Law dated 9 March 2023 ‘On management of state property’ were also mentioned, as well as the essence and meaning of the documents were explained.

At the same time, the foreign representatives were provided with detailed information on the processes and methods of privatisation based on best foreign practices.

In turn, the head of the mission Yasser Abdih highly appreciated that the privatisation processes are carried out openly and transparently, and expressed confidence that these reforms will bear their results.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to consider areas of cooperation in the pre-privatisation processes.
