On December 8-9 this year in Jakarta (Indonesia) 15th meeting of the Asia-Pacific Network on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises was held.

Deputy Director of the State Assets Management Agency Alisher Miraliyev made a report at this meeting through the online platform "Zoom" and presented information on the fundamentals of corporate governance in the Republic of Uzbekistan, improvements to the regulatory framework in this area and implementation of modern management practices in state-owned enterprises.  

In particular, Mr. Miraliyev introduced to the participants of the meeting the implementation of requirements of the Strategy on management and reform of state-owned enterprises for 2021-2025 in state-owned enterprises, as well as the innovations to improve the efficiency and accountability of the members of the management and control bodies.

The main objective of the Asia-Pacific Network on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises meeting under the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is to share experience with representatives of governments and relevant non-governmental interested parties from 22 countries in the region, as well as to identify best practices and develop recommendations on reforms to improve state ownership practices, and to strengthen the OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises (the Guidelines of SOEs).

Also, the meeting focused on recent developments in the reform of state-owned enterprises related to ownership and corporate governance practices in selected participating countries in accordance with the Guidelines of SOEs. The meeting also included thematic sessions on the following topics:

• Improvements in the governance of public holding companies;
• The best practices in anti-corruption and business integrity;
• Climate change and low-carbon transition policies in state-owned enterprises.
