International cooperation is expanding

On November 11 this year, Deputy Director of the State Assets Management Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bekzod Usmonov held a meeting with the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission Ron van Roeden in the framework of annual consultations in accordance with Article IV of the "Articles of Agreement of the International Monetary Fund".

For reference: The Articles of Agreement of the International Monetary Fund were adopted at the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference (Bretton Woods, New Hampshire) on July 22, 1944. They were originally accepted by 29 countries and since then have been signed and ratified by a total of 190 Member countries. As the charter of the organization, the Articles lay out the Fund's purposes, which include the promotion of 'international monetary cooperation through a permanent institution which provides the machinery for consultation and collaboration on international monetary problems'.

During the meeting the parties discussed the current tasks and prospects for cooperation in the field of reducing state involvement in the economy, privatization and transformation of enterprises with state participation, as well as issues of macroeconomic stability.

In addition, the participants discussed the role of the Agency in implementation of the national development strategy of the country for 2022-2026 and the issues of technical assistance.

Also, the Deputy Director of the Agency informed the IMF representatives about the privatization program for the current year, privatization of non-agricultural land plots, management and reform of enterprises with state participation, introduction of modern methods of corporate governance in enterprises with state participation and further prospective plans in these directions.

Mr. Ron van Roden expressed the willingness of the IMF to fully assist the Agency in implementing the national development strategy and its stated objectives.
