In accordance with the relevant privatization programs, as previously reported, UzSAMA announced an international tender to attract a professional consulting company for the privatization of 100% of the state share in the authorized capital of "Universal Mobile Systems" LLC (UMS, Asset).
10 local and international professional consulting companies took part in this international tender.
These professional companies were selected based on their experience in telecom M&A projects, qualifications, approaches to complete the project and price proposal.
Based on the results of the international tender the international consulting company KPMG that has top level M&A projects completed in the field, qualification of the professional team to be involved in this project, as well as the best price offer declared as a winner.
In cooperation with KPMG UzSAMA will take all necessary measures to carry out this project on competitive principles providing transparency and success, including telecommunications market analysis, primary market sounding, a comprehensive financial, tax, legal, technical due diligence on the asset analysys and measures to increase investment attractiveness of the assets.
To the appraisal process of the asset international professional independent appraisal company from "Big 4" (except KPMG) will be attracted due to their level of reputation and international recognition.
Universal Mobile Systems LLC is a reputable company, which has significant market share in the domestic telecommunications market and provides modern services of mobile voice communication and mobile Internet connection under Mobiuz brand.
Background, at the end of 2021, the number of UMS clients - 6.6 million, market share of mobile services – around 20 percent, revenue - 1.1 trillion UZS, net assets - 1.4 trillion UZS and net profit - 97 billion UZS.
This project is expected to be the first transparent competitive sale process of the state-owned mobile company in the history of Uzbekistan's privatization.
